We're Here to Help

Implant-grade titanium flat back earrings are a strong choice for sensitive ears because they are nickel-free, highly stable, and designed to reduce irritation from pressure and friction. They are suitable for long-term, everyday wear, including sleep and workouts.

Quick Answers for Sensitive Ears

What is the best earring material for sensitive ears?

Implant-grade titanium is widely considered one of the safest materials because it is nickel-free, highly stable, and resistant to corrosion with daily wear.

Are flat back earrings better for sensitive ears?

Flat back earrings reduce pressure and friction behind the ear, making them more comfortable for sleeping and long-term wear compared to traditional butterfly backs.

Can hypoallergenic earrings still cause irritation?

Yes. The term “hypoallergenic” is not strictly regulated, and some materials may still cause irritation over time, especially with prolonged wear.

Can I wear titanium earrings all day?

Yes. Implant-grade titanium is designed for all-day wear, including sleep, workouts, and showering, due to its stability and resistance to moisture.

Materials & Quality

What materials are your earrings made from?

We use ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium. This is the highest tier of titanium, specifically refined for biocompatibility and used globally for medical implants.

How does implant-grade titanium compare to other jewelry metals?

It’s the "gold standard" for safety. Stronger than steel but 45% lighter, it’s incredibly comfortable for all-day wear. Unlike silver, it won’t tarnish, and unlike "mystery metals," it is biocompatible and nickel-free.

What’s the difference between titanium and surgical steel?

The main difference is nickel. Surgical steel often contains 8-12% nickel, a common irritant. Our implant-grade titanium is 100% nickel-free, lighter, and more resistant to corrosion.

What’s the difference between implant-grade titanium (F-136) and pure titanium?

Implant-grade titanium (ASTM F-136) is a medical alloy reinforced for superior strength and scratch resistance. While both it and pure titanium are nickel-free, pure titanium is softer and more prone to wear. The implant-grade version holds a better polish and is more durable for long-term comfort.

Sensitivity & Healing

Are your earrings safe for sensitive ears?

Yes! Our earrings are crafted with implant-grade titanium (ASTM F-136), which has an extremely low allergy rate. It is one of the most biocompatible metals available, making it a premier and highly durable option for everyday wear.

Are your earrings safe for new piercings?

Yes. Professional piercers recommend implant-grade titanium because it is non-reactive and supports a healthy healing environment. However, wait until your piercing is fully healed before swapping jewelry, as changing it too early can cause irritation regardless of the material.

What if I have an allergic reaction?

While true titanium allergies are extremely rare, everyone’s body is unique. If you experience discomfort:

  1. Check for trapped irritants: Often, redness is caused by trapped moisture, soap, or bacteria rather than the metal itself. Ensure your ears and jewelry are kept clean and dry.
  2. Remove the earrings: If irritation persists, remove the jewelry and allow your ears to rest.
  3. Refer to our Return Policy: We want you to love your jewelry. If you are unable to wear them, feel free to return and we will issue you a refund.

Fit & Function

Do you offer different bar lengths?

Yes! we currently offer 6mm and 8mm bar lengths to ensure a perfect fit:

  • 6mm bars – Best for thinner earlobes, cartilage, helix, and tragus piercings.
  • 8mm bars – Ideal for thicker earlobes.

Please let us know if you need additional sizes, and we will do our best to accommodate your request!

Can I buy an extra or replacement post?

Yes. You can order an extra post as a spare, replace a lost post, or choose a different length for another piercing location or fit.

Replacement flat-back posts are available in Internally Threaded or Threadless, with 18G / 6mm and 18G / 8mm options. Choose the same threading as your decorative top because the two styles are not interchangeable.

What if my post length doesn't fit?

No need to return. Keep your earring and order the other length for $4, postage included, within 30 days of delivery: order the other length. One post per earring purchased; final sale.

What is the difference between Internally Threaded and Push-Pin closures?

Both styles are designed for maximum comfort and safety, featuring a smooth post that won't irritate your ear during insertion. The difference is how they lock:

  • Internally Threaded: The decorative top has a tiny screw that twists into the hollow post. It provides a very secure, mechanical lock that is excellent for long-term wear.
  • Push-Pin (Threadless): The decorative top has a small pin that stays in place using tension. You simply push the top into the post to lock it. It is the easiest style to change and doesn't require any twisting.

Choose Internally Threaded for maximum security if you rarely change your jewelry. Choose Push-Pin if you want the easiest experience switching styles or struggle with tiny screw-on parts.

Flat Back vs. Butterfly Back Earrings: What’s the Difference?

Flat back earrings have a smooth, flat disc that sits comfortably behind the ear, while traditional butterfly back earrings use a removable clutch that presses against the back of the ear.

Flat back earrings are inserted from the back of the ear, and the decorative top attaches from the front. This design allows you to change styles later without removing the post, helping reduce irritation — especially for sensitive ears. The flat backing stays flush against the skin, making flat back earrings more comfortable for sleeping, workouts, and all-day wear.

Traditional butterfly backs are quick to put on, but they can feel bulky, shift during wear, press into the ear over time, and may cause irritation each time they’re removed and put back on.

Are flat back earrings easy to install?

Yes — flat back earrings are easy to install once you’re familiar with them. The flat back sits smoothly behind the ear, and the top secures from the front, making them comfortable and secure for everyday wear.

If you’re new to flat back earrings, inserting the post from behind may take a little practice at first. You can ask someone to help, or use a taper tool to make installation easier. Most customers find that after the first time, flat back earrings become simple and hassle-free.

Can I wear titanium earrings in the shower or during workouts?

Yes! Implant-grade titanium is waterproof and corrosion-resistant. Pro-tip: After showering or swimming, gently pat the area behind the flat-back dry. This prevents trapped moisture from irritating your skin.

Can I sleep with my earrings on?

Yes! Our flat-back design is specifically made to be comfortable while sleeping. It eliminates the "poking" and pressure caused by traditional butterfly-back earrings.
